Finger Painting on the iPad

I have been practicing my finger painting that I started as a kindergartner. I have been playing around with an iPad to see what I could do in the Layers app. Interesting app.

I have worked on and off this writing book for a while. Finally finished it in time to send it out for Christmas presents. My four year old really likes practicing his letters. My next project will be writing numbers book.

Chainsaw from The Raven Boys

This is a sketch I did for my wife for a book she likes so much called "The Raven Boys". One of the boys has a baby raven he names Chainsaw. Fun stuff.

Morning Mug Shot

I like to warm up on the morning with the a little mug shot sketch. I heard it from an illustrator. I like to over exaggerate the features or just make the face into something interesting.

1000 Hands in 2012

I won't bore you with all of them but here are the last few. I challenged myself in January to do 1,000 sketches of hands by the time #2's birth some time in May. Well a few things came up so I didn't finish until November. It was an interesting challenge for myself.
I certainly feel much more confident when I look at hands. One thing I tried to do was draw a natural looking hand, then do another more stylized or exaggerated. To me the more exaggerated hands are more lively and fun. Elegant hands are still difficult. Just capture the fine thinness that conveys a feminine hand and you have it.
