1000 Hands in 2012

I won't bore you with all of them but here are the last few. I challenged myself in January to do 1,000 sketches of hands by the time #2's birth some time in May. Well a few things came up so I didn't finish until November. It was an interesting challenge for myself.
I certainly feel much more confident when I look at hands. One thing I tried to do was draw a natural looking hand, then do another more stylized or exaggerated. To me the more exaggerated hands are more lively and fun. Elegant hands are still difficult. Just capture the fine thinness that conveys a feminine hand and you have it.

Folio Academy

Check out the Folio Academy. They have some interesting tutorials for cheap prices. If you don't have time or the cash for and expensive workshop this might be for you. I know a couple artists, William Whitaker and Will Terry who have tutorials on there and they are amazing.

Working on a new ebook right now. Here is the cover so far. It is a fun little gift book about parenting. There are way too many that are true. Great book. I will updated later.

A few more hands.

Scofield Scout Camp. It was quite a hike to go up and down the hill for lunch and dinner. Too bad the camp was evacuated early by fires.
One of the scouts shot 12 out of 13 clay pigeons for the shotgun merit badges. He did a great job.

Handy man

I am not sure how many hands there are right now, around 700. I have been having fun with some of them. I really like the ones that have squarish finger tips and thin wrists. I have been reading some interesting books, so some of the hand are from characters that I see in my head as I read. For example Airem from the Beyonders is a hulking man at night and a tiny person during the day.

ABC vector fun

Here are some more ABC images the I have been working on when I get a quiet moment. I plan on placing these in a book for practicing the alphabet. My son really likes to practice so I think these will be fun.

Z is for zeppelin. Y is for yak...O is for octopus. Okay so they are not quite in order but they are coming along nicely. This is a little personal project.
